NH497 ‘Red Chair, Yellow Chair, Blue Table’ 18 x 18 inches    45.5 x 45.5 cm    Acrylic on Canvas    2019
It should be immediately apparent that this work is heavily indebted to the theories  and paintings of Piet Mondrian. Nevertheless, this composition breaks two of his cardinal  rules - firstly, the use of the colour green and secondly the use of diagonals. In addition, of  course the painting is clearly figurative. However, as Mondrian said - "Every true artist has  been inspired more by the beauty of lines and colour and the relationships between them  than by the concrete subject of the picture."
