At first this painting of seven café table tops appears as a controlled and balanced
arrangement of circular overlapping abstract forms. Observed a little more closely, the
circles become table tops that appear to float above a paved floor. The density of the flat
colours arranged in a carefully considered distribution contrast vividly with the complex
more muted background which punctures the space and creates a sense of depth.
